Faith in Action of western Stark County(FIA) was established in 1997 as the Massillon Interfaith Caregivers. FIA was started with a grant from The Robert Woods Johnson Foundation with strong support from the Sisters of Charity foundation and the Massillon Area Clergy Association.
MISSION STATEMENT: The primary goal of FIA is to assist seniors who can no longer drive to remain living in their homes in the community as long as possible.
Major programs:
• The provision of free transportation services to medical appointments, shopping and personal appointments; friendly visitor, respite services and light home maintenance projects.
• Holiday Brunch and Christmas presents for care receivers (FIA clients).
• The Health, Lifestyle and Wellness Fair is our major fund-raising event. We also conduct an annual campaign.
The organization is staffed by an executive director, administrative assistant and a store manager (all at 30 hours or less per week). The direct services are provided by volunteers. The primary goal of Faith in Action is to assist seniors that can no longer drive to remain living independently in their homes as long as possible.
The organization is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. FIA is a tax exempt 501C3 organization. Contributions made to FIA are tax deductible.
The operating budget is approximately $110,000. Funding comes from foundations, the City of Massillon, local congregations and individual donations. We sponsor two major fundraising events each year- a luncheon and fashion show and a health and wellness fair.
